이토 히로부미에게는 배정자라는 조선인 수양딸이 있었다. 아버지를 잃고 천민 거지가 되어 유랑하다 일본으로 넘어간 그녀는 갑신정변에 실패해 일본으로 피신해있던 김옥균에 의해 이토 히로부미에게 소개된다. 그녀를 딱하게 여긴 이토는 다야마 사다코라는 이름을 붙여주고 수양딸로 입양한다. (주한일본공사관기록. '한국특파대사 이등의 복명서', 1905.12.8)
Ito Hirobumi had a Korean adopted daughter named Bae Jeong-ja. After losing her father, she became a beggar of the lowest class and wandered until she crossed over to Japan. She was introduced to Ito Hirobumi by Kim Ok-gyun, who had fled to Japan after the failure of the Gapsin Coup. Ito, who felt sorry for her, gave her the name Tayama Sadako and adopted her as his adopted daughter.
안중근의 아들 안준생은 1939년 이토 히로부미의 영전을 찾는다. 아버지의 죄를 속죄하겠다며 향을 피우고 절을 했다. 이토 히로부미의 아들 이토 분기치를 만난 안준생은 "아버지를 대신해 깊이 사과드립니다"라고 했고 분기치는 "내 아버지도, 당신의 아버지도, 지금은 하늘에 있기 때문에 사과할 필요가 없습니다"라고 답했다.
An Jun-saeng, the son of An Jung-geun, visited Ito Hirobumi's memorial in 1939. He burned incense and bowed to atone for his father's sins. When he met Ito Kunichi, the son of Ito Hirobumi, An Jun-saeng said, "I deeply apologize on behalf of my father," and Kunichi replied, "There is no need to apologize because both my father and your father are in heaven now."
